Shall I cover the tape with resin or varnish

Hi,

I made all the tapeing work yesterday with epoxy. How to get a smooth finish? Do I use more epoxy or will it become smooth when I varnish a couple of times? At the moment the fibre glass tape has it's woven structure finish only that it has become hard and do seal the joints.

I start to see the end of the Project! At the weekend I plan to vanish and next week I hope to make the outside.

I would use the minimum amount of epoxy to make a smooth finish on the tape and transition to the wood. Then I would use marine varnish or shellac for protection.
