"Jollenflottille 2014" dinghy messabout (English invitation)

The "Jollenflottille" dinghy meeting - the fifth of its kind - will be held in Schwerin this year between 28 May (arrival date) and the first of June (departure day).
This is an informal event at which small-boat sailors can sail together, swap stories and exchange experiences. Schwerin is is the capital and second-largest city of the northern German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. As such, it is within a day's travel for interested sailors in most of northern/central Europe and southern Scandinavia.
Participants will have to book their own accommodations but I can help if you need assistance.
The boats will be kept at the local yacht club: Schweriner Segler-Verein von 1894 e.V. , which also has a limited number of spaces for camper-vans and tents. Contact the harbourmaster (++49 385 - 56 5079 or mobile ++49 152 - 553 44 705) in good time if you would like to book one of these. Some of our participants who have mini-cruisers or larger dinghies will be sleeping aboard.
Of course it is totally up to you if you wish to come earlier and/or stay longer. Our "core" sailing days are Thursday, Friday and Saturday. You participate at your own responsibility and risk, as this is a completely informal meeting.
For all who understand a bit of German or are prepared to tackle one of the free WWW translation services, there is a thread about the meeting on the Segeln Forum with a list of known participants. Do not hesitate to post comments in English there as most members do have a certain command of English.
My personal accounts (two in German and one in English) of three previous events are linked on the Documents page of our forum.
A few corresponding videos are to be found on the JollenFlottille channel on Youtube.

I can't make this year's event, but it's good to hear about what's going on. That's certainly a place I'd like to visit - Germany clearly has a lot to offer. I'm not normally greatly interested in towns, but Schwerin looks amazing:-

I'm currently reading a Gustav Frenssen book (in both German and English) to try to improve my understanding of German - I know it isn't essential, but I like learning languages and have only neglected German in the past because it's too close to English, but the idea of taking part in some Jollenflotille events in future years has given me all the motivation I needed.
