People looking for boats they used to own.

Forums:

Once in a while I receive notes from people telling me about Mirrors they used to own. If the numbers are already on the roll call, I can tell the senders to have a look there.
If the boats are not on the roll call, the enquiry has stayed on my mail collection which is a bit inefficient with respect to locating more information.
Instead of adding a "lost boats" section to the list, I'll start by posting some here. If you have news about a boat, you can cut and paste the text into a new message and add your information. This might turn up some interesting stories about what these boats have seen and what they are doing now.

Mirror 6745 'Partout', white hull, varnished inside - I had this boat from new, fully built by Bell Woodworking of Leicester, which is where I grew up. I decided I wanted a Mirror when I was 9 years old. I told my father I would save my pocket, birthday and Christmas money. Generously he said for every £1 I saved, he would give me £5. In those days I got 2 shillings (10p) a week. It took me three years to save enough and the new boat, all £125 worth of her was delivered to me on the top of my fathers car in time for my 1966 summer holidays. I spent the next few summers sailing every day around Chichester harbour, getting into scrapes and learning a lot. She was sold in 1973/4 .

Mirror 21823 'Rigolo', green hull, varnished inside - This boat I bought in 2004 so that I could help teach my daughter to sail. She was for sale at Datchet Reservoir and I towed her to Burnham on Crouch, where she was sailed occasionally for the next four years. I then sold her to a couple downsizing from Wayfarers and based along the East Coast on the Blackwater.

@Chinwag: Tornado or Shearwater now?
35341 is not on the roll call yet. If you have a Facebook account, you can ask in the "people who love mirror sailing dinghies" group too.
Cheers,

Is she still out there? My Dad built her in 1964 when we were living in Somerset. I can't remember who we sold it to but I think it would have been around 1968 to 69 and either in Somerset or Devon.
