Summer Cruise???????

Forums:

"Summer Cruise" has connotations of a pleasurable activity, but I would never describe Frank Dye's cruise as such!
Whilst not a "Mirror" topic, this film has to be essential viewing for any small boat sailor.
Search on youtube as "A Rough Passage: The Summer Cruise of Frank Dye and Bill Brockbank"

The surprising thing is that the super-8 camera and the film survived the ordeal.
It's a pity that the digitizing seems to have been effected by videoing off a projector screen (I believe you can hear the projector at times). Of course professional services take a lot of money, but the prices are coming down now.
Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for bringing this to my/our attention - Looking forward to watching it (though it'll have to wait for a time when I can afford to download the data - no landline, so tight monthly data limit).

M'aidez Gernot!
An amazing coincidence, but will not accept my URL.
It is correct, for I have treble checked.
Can you sort out for the benefit of those interested?

Forget my request Gernot, I have just spotted that the Guardian's URL has spelt "dinghy" without the "h" and I have corrected my post to read as their's!

Ok, I do not advocate that this should be done frequently, but after reading the article, I venture to say that some keel boats would have gone down with man and mouse but a dinghy stays afloat in most cases. As long as you can stay with the boat, you have a chance of survival.

If you enjoy reading such accounts, Robert Manry's book on his transatlantic rossing in "Tinkerbelle" is now available for on-line reading:
