Are you sure you want them ?, they are a constant source of leaks/maintenance on my dinghies !.
my mirror one is about 25mm outboard of the dagger board side case .
I had elvström self bailers on my last boat and they always worked great.
25 mm outside from the dagger board might be a bad position for
a) very deep, so the static water pressure is high
b) the dynamic pressure on the lee side of the dagger board adds to the static pressure.
Without knowing what experienced mirror sailors recommend i would assume a position as far outside as possible to be best, even if the boat, when sailed perfectly upright, can´t be bailed totaly empty by self bailers in this position.
Other Mirror sailors: where are your bailers and how do they work?
to complete this old thread:
Finally I have mounted a self bailer, below the thwart, directly beside the dagger board case, as recommended by JPH.
I tested it last Weekend.
It worked great. My fears about dynamic pressure did not come true. The self bailer works very good on all courses at hull speed.
I have decided to stay without one.
Glad it works for you. The one in the back of our Flying Cruiser has never worked, but it's below the cockpit floor level so unless we have > 4 adults in the cockpit, it doesn't matter. It just serves as a cockpit drain.

Going to sail on the Plauer See b. Brandenburg 19 July - 24 July. Care to join us ?

Hello Gernot
generally I´m very interested in sailing with other mirror sailors. At the moment my sailing time is very restricted. But perhaps we can meet later this year or next spring?
I also still hope to get in contact with other mirror sailors in Hamburg and meet them on the Elbe.
One of them seams to have his berth exactly opposite of my Club on the other bank of the river, in a harbour called Neuenschleuse, but I never got in touch.
PS: My fairleads are on the side benches this season.

I`ve had mixed experiance with selfbailers, they all bailed well when underway but some did weap a little if sand/stone got on the seal, usually a quick rinse through would fix it however if I were to sleep on board I`d probably do so wearing a lifejacket!
Like Ferdi I`m also interested in sailing with other Mirrors...."Have Trailer, will Travel"

self bailer
I have had mine for years and never a leak. It depends on how carefully you install it.
