Double up or piggy back Road trailer for a mirror Dinghy.

Forums:

I have a beach or launching trailer for my mirror but am looking for a road trailer to take the launching trailer and boat. Don't mind if it's tatty or needs work but it's got to be suitable to tale the other bits. Prefer something cheap too.

Cheers

Ah I accidentally touched on this in my reply to your other post. Yeah road trailer's aren't easy to come by. There are a lot of old converted caravan chassis about, but even those are in demand!

I have an integral trolley-trailer, where the trolley slides off the back on a roller, and tucks back in when you roll it back on. But sometimes I wish I just had a flatbed trailer with the trolley wheeled onto it, for those times that I need to use a trailer for other stuff (eg transporting DIY/gardening stuff, wardrobes, bikes, kayaks, motorbikes, etc) I could wheel the Mirror off and be left with a multipurpose flatbed. Although, the Mirror-specific trailer takes up less room in the garage.

I think your only options are either ebay (or similar) and be prepared to put your hand in your pocket. Or alternatively go with the Gernot method of putting the boat on a roof rack.

When you say "don't mind if it... needs work" - might be worth looking out for "spares or repair" trailers on ebay and putting the remaining bits together. If you have the ability and facility to weld it'd help (I don't unfortunately!).

Back to the drawing board or was that the scrap heap.

How are you fairing with the trailer? I'm in the process of designing one at the moment. I have an old 6x4 chassis, all angle iron and will convert it to take my boat & trolley combo.

Seen 2nd hand trailers on fleabay going for over £150 so not sorted one yet.

Its not priority thats for sure but be interested if you come up with a plan to make one.
