Good news for mainland Europeans : Gute Nachrichten für Festlandeuropäer

Alkar Technology, a composites manufacturer in Belgium, has obtained the licence to produce Mk 3 Mirror Dinghies. The company's website contains a slide show of the making of the hull mold.

This means that now there is a manufacturer on "mainland EU" and I hope we shall be seeing a revival of interest in Mirror Dinghies, especially in the Netherlands, Belgium and France. Perhaps some German and Scandinavian sailors may also be tempted.
I've not seen any price information but hope that their hulls will not be prohibitively expensive. It would be interesting to see them participate in next year's World Championships in Cornwall.

Der Kunststoff-Komposithersteller Alkar Technology aus Belgien hat nun die Lizenz erworben, Mk 3 Mirror-Rümpfe herzustellen. Auf der Homepage der Firma finden Interessenten eine Diaschau von der Entstehung der Form.

Damit gibt es (wieder?) eine "Werft" auf dem europäischen Festland und ich hoffe, dass damit das Interesse am Mirror Dinghy wieder zunimmt, insbesondere in den Niederlanden, Belgien und Frankreich. Aber vielleicht lassen sich auch einige deutsche und skandinavische Segler zum Kauf animieren.
Ich habe noch keine Preisangaben gefunden, hoffe aber, dass ihre Rümpfe nicht unerschwinglich sein werden. Es wäre interessant, Boote von Alkar bei der Weltmeisterschaft in Cornwall im kommenden Jahr zu sehen.
