I was given this Mirror dinghy by a work colleague when I retired this year.

It was built by John H. Glasser from Dearborn Hts, Michigan. From the paperwork it looks like it was bought from The Cleveland Amateur Boatbuilding and Boating Society Supply Co. In Rocky River, Ohio in late 1974 for $395.00 and the build was finished in early 1976. The builder/owner has passed away and his niece is the one who gave me the boat . It sat in their basement since the mid 80's and was in pretty good shape. I gave it a new paint job, bought new lines and replaced the plastic sail numbers and insignia that were falling off with new ones.

I have a lot of paperwork. Building instructions, Sailing instructions, building tips from the U.S. Mirror Class Association etc. If there is an interest I can scan these and make them available.

That boat looks very classy and if it's been kept dry for 35 or so years, it should be in good shape.
Have you had an opportunity to sail her yet?
For those of us who haven't bothered to look, here's the picture:

Thanks for the offer of the documents and information. There have bee enquiries about other Mirror owners in the USA periodically. Perhaps someone should revive the US class association.

Gernot,

I did get it on the water last Thursday on Kent lake in the Kensington Metro Park here. Main sail only. Probably going out again on Sunday.

Also scanned in and tossed a couple of docs here. I wonder how many people learned to sail just by reading the "Sailing Instructions" book.

Hi Edward,
Welcome to Mirror sailing and congratulations on getting your first sail.
If you have not found fellow Mirror sailors out your way you might like to keep track of the Ontario Mirror Dinghy Association (OMDA) (http://www.mirrorsailing.ca/) We are a days drive from you but you might like to join us in one of our activities. Unfortunately the events date has not been kept up to date recently, but you can see about when things occur. If you are interested, contact me and I will keep you up to date next year when our sailing season starts again. (peter-kaiser@rogers.com)

Dear Edward : I've added your boat - (with reference to Eddie Izzard's sketch "DO YOU HAVE A FLAG?"*) does she have a name?

Cheers,
Gernot H.
