Important notes for users

28 March 2019 : If internal links or bookmarks don't work
With the introduction of secure browsing, we have eliminated the "forum.mirrordiscussforum.xxx" path to the forum because our host service provider only offers protected access to a single URL. This has been assigned to "https://mirrordiscussforum.org/Drupal_02".
Unfortunately some internal links in our Drupal installation do not update automatically and still point at "forum.mirror...." . If you do get a "404 not found" error message and wish to access the content involved, change the address in the browser head from "forum.mirrordiscussforum.org/(desiredfile.htm)" to "mirrordiscussforum.org/Drupal_02/(desiredfile.htm)". Please note the upper-case "D" in "Drupal".

17 April 2014
A large number of web hosting and social network platforms have been affected by a security loophole in protocol handling.
For those more interested in the software aspect, see http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heartbleed .
Our host service has informed us that they too are affected, but do not know whether the loophole has been exploited already. However they did recommend that we change our passwords just in case their databases have been compromised.

I strongly recommend that all our users change their passwords soon. Apparently this also applies to many e-mail services etc. all around the globe, including Facebook and others

GENERAL NOTES
We have been molested by spammers (possibly robot software) setting up bogus accounts.
As a first step to help us identify the phoney accounts, we have added the data fields "first name" and "surname" to you account data.
Persons registering as new users will be requested to provide this data.
Existing users are asked to fill in the respective fields by clicking on "My account" (top right) and then opening the "Edit" tab. The name fields are then right at the bottom of the form.
In some cases you may be using an internet access point which uses dynamic IP addresses and you have been assigned an address that has formerly been used to spread spam on this forum or other forums and has therefore been blocked by us. If this has happened, you will not be able to log in any more. Usually switching off your internet router and re-starting it will get you a new IP address in this case and let you enter our forum again. If this doesn't help, please contact us.
Please excuse this inconvenience but we already had this problem on the Multiply site and are trying to get to grips with it. We shall not use the information in any other way than to search for accounts that have obviously been created maliciously.
