Building a Mirror in Munich, far away from any other Mirror - Question 1

Hallo, welch eine Überraschung!
Ich gratuliere zum neuen Boot.
Der Gummiring gehört meines Erachtens zu einem Deckel der Inspektionsöffnungen.
Das dreieckige Teil dient dazu, das Ruder unten zu halten. Es muss so befestigt werden, dass die "Zunge" knapp oberhalb des unteren Ruderbeschlags gegen den senkrechten Stift drückt, wenn das Ruder eingehängt ist. Damit wird verhindert, dass das Ruder aufschwimmt.
Ich würde das Ruderblatt einhängen, das Plastikteil so halten, dass das Ruder ohne zuviel Spiel sicher unten gehalten wird und dann die Löcher markieren, vorbohren und vor dem Einschrauben der Besfestigungsschrauben einen ölbasierten Lack in die Löcher geben, damit kein Wasser in das Holz eindringen kann (Rott ist der Mirror-Dinghies Tod).
Ich habe gerade kein besseres Bild zur Hand, der rote Kreis zeigt, wo das Teil angebracht ist.

Hello, what a surprise!
Congratulations on the new boat.
I think the rubber ring belongs to one of the inspection opening covers.
The triangular part is used to hold the rudder down. It must be fixed so that the "tongue" just above the lower rudder fitting presses against the vertical pin when the rudder is hooked in. This prevents the rudder from floating up.
I would hook the rudder blade in, hold the plastic part in a position that holds the rudder down securely without too much play and then mark the holes. Then pre-drill and, before screwing in the mounting screws, inject some oil-based varnish into the holes to prevent water from penetrating the wood (rot is a Mirror dinghy's death).
I don't have a better picture at hand right now, the red circle shows where the part is attached.
