Coming across this site coincided fortuitously with a complete restoration of a 1975 Mirror 14, number 156. It is good to see that others of the same vintage are also being restored, or finished!
This: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_HJwKgLQ-U&feature=youtu.be is a vignette of her 15 years ago in glorious English Bay, Vancouver.

Welcome online and congratulations
What a surprise... Not many 14s seem to have survived and there's only one other on record here, being sailed in Germany.
Your information then proves that Vancouver is probably one of the few (perhaps the only) places where there are still "regular" Mirrors, 14s and 16s afloat, so to say.
I wish you a wonderful season and that the youngsters become adept at handling her very quickly.
Cheers,
Gernot H.

Sole surviving western Canadian Mirror 14?
Thank you Gernot. The 14 I built in 75 was from a kit of which probably around a dozen were brought in and made their way to a couple of sailing clubs besides Jericho featured in the video. I would very much doubt that any of the others still exist, though there are bound to be some Mirror Dinghies dotted around the province.
I was particularly interested to hear of an interest in Mirrors in Germany. It was while writing a Ph.D in German literature that I felt I needed a boatbuilding break and persuaded 2 other fellow students to go in with me. Solche Tage wie im YouTube-Video auf der English Bay haben mir damals geholfen, meine Arbeit fertigzuschreiben.
Ich wünsche schöne Segeltage (auf dem Wannsee?)
Tim

Thanks!
Hi Tim,
Thanks for the information.
I was referring to Heather Drugge and friends in Vancouver who sail a small fleet of Mirrors. Heather and a friend even entered in the Race to Alaska in a Mirror 16 (https://r2ak.com/2016-teams/team-coastal-express/) .
She has also posted several Youtube videos of cruising in Mirror dinghies over twelve years ago, which gave me the confidence to go cruising in my boat.
I sail on the Tegeler See most of the time, but try to get our on more open waters every now and then.
Some of the excursions are on record as the "Jollenflottille" reports on the documents page here and on my Youtube playlist https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9bVWAXKwPg&list=PLf361BnuGMUbEiRlGAQ9ME... .
Schöne Grüße aus Tegel!

Stay Healthy
All you Mirrors out on the water. Stay 2 meters away from other Mirrors and wear a face mask.
